Dr. Philip Michael

Biography

Dr. Philip Michael is Melbourne's premier Rhinoplasty Specialist, having been a otolaryngologist in Melbourne for over 13 years. One of the few surgeons in Australia to have passed specialist ear, nose, and throat (ENT) examinations in both the United Kingdom and Australia, Dr. Michael treats a wide range of related conditions but specializes in rhinoplasty surgery, including cosmetic, functional, and revision rhinoplasty. Dr. Michael practices at Cabrini Hospital in Malvern, Epworth Hospital in Richmond, and his private practice in Berwick. He also serves in public appointments as an ENT specialist at both the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and Western Hospitals in Melbourne. After receiving his medical degree, Dr. Michael completed a series of international fellowships with pre-eminent ENT surgeons in London, UK, Stuttgart, Germany, and Zurich, Switzerland. He also obtained a rhinology fellowship at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital in Melbourne. During his training, Dr. Michael mastered cosmetic and functional rhinoplasty, revision rhinoplasty, and advanced endoscopic sinus surgery techniques. He went on to become a specialist member of the Australasian Academy of Facial Plastic Surgery and the Australia and New Zealand Rhinologic Society. Throughout his career, Dr. Michael has remained committed to research and education. He strongly believes in their power to maintain and improve clinical skills. The recipient of a master’s degree in education, he is a tutor at the University of Melbourne Medical School. As a member of the Academy of Surgical Educators with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, Dr. Michael is actively involved in published research projects, which he often presents at international conferences. He has also written and coordinated ENT guidelines for the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital and has reviewed guidelines published by Better Health Victoria, the government’s health information website. Dr. Michael is a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, a fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, and an honorary senior clinic fellow of the University of Melbourne.
